T-Mobile is introducing several new 5G firsts just in time for MLB All-Star Week in Arlington, Texas. The Un-carrier is unveiling an exciting lineup of experiences powered by its 5G network, enhancing the fan experience both at the ballpark and for those watching at home. Local fans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can enjoy exclusive perks, such as Club Magenta, in-store fan experiences, and more.
Among the innovative firsts are seamless stadium entry and technology to connect the visually impaired. At select gates, fans can utilize facial authentication to enter the stadium as T-Mobile’s 5G network quickly transmits data and ticket confirmation, making entry to the game more seamless and efficient. T-Mobile has also partnered with OneCourt and MLB to make the game experience more accessible for visually impaired fans. Through the use of Hawk-Eye sensors and cameras that transmit real-time data, visually impaired attendees will be able to feel vibrations that essentially mirror action in the game.
“At T-Mobile, we never stop helping our partners find new ways to innovate. This year, we’re going even further, with our partners at Major League Baseball, to improve the fan and game experiences as well as the on-site operations during All-Star Week,” said Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy and Products, T-Mobile. “Through our partnership with MLB, we’re going beyond what we did last year with 5G-powered automated balls and strikes and our T-Mobile 5G BP show. We’re adding new innovations to transform in-person fan experiences, like Go-Ahead Entry for quick stadium access and OneCourt for greater live-game accessibility—and it’s all made possible by the power of our leading 5G network.”
The automated ball-strike challenge system will return to the All-Star Futures Game for the second consecutive year. MLB All-Star Week also features a 5G Batting Practice, which allows fans to enjoy the show through immersive angles of players as they warm up for the Home Run Derby. High-speed cameras and 5G drones will provide unmatched views of the field.
Meanwhile, Magenta Status customers can access VIP perks, including custom giveaways, free drinks, and player appearances. They also qualify for fast-lane entry at the Home Run Derby and can receive a voucher worth $20 toward concessions. Finally, T-Mobile has kicked off its T-Mobile Tuesdays Sweepstakes, where fans can enter for a chance to win a trip to Game 1 of the 2024 World Series or a $100 MLBShop.com e-Gift card.
