Royal Caribbean Group Launches Global Foundation to Strengthen Communities
Royal Caribbean Group has announced the launch of the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation, formalizing and expanding its long-standing commitment to supporting communities around the world. The initiative builds on more than 30 years of philanthropic efforts focused on education, economic development, and environmental conservation, reinforcing the company’s belief that tourism can drive meaningful, long-term impact. The Foundation is guided by the company’s “SEA the Future” framework, which focuses on sustaining the environment, energizing communities, and advancing innovation.
As its first major initiative, the Foundation is funding a new emergency medicine residency program at Jackson Health System in South Florida. The program is designed to train future physicians and strengthen the region’s healthcare workforce, aligning with the company’s broader mission to invest in the well-being and sustainability of the communities where it operates. Through scholarships, conservation investments, disaster relief funding, and global partnerships, Royal Caribbean Group aims to scale its impact and support lasting economic and social progress in destinations worldwide.
Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty said, “Strong communities are essential to delivering exceptional vacation experiences, and the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation reflects the company’s belief that tourism can be a force for long-term positive change. Supporting the education of emergency medicine physicians in South Florida is an example of how we invest in the long-term vitality of the places we operate, contributing to the essential systems that help communities thrive and sustain meaningful economic opportunity.”

Allbirds Shifts to AI Strategy, Sparks Massive Stock Surge
Allbirds stunned investors by announcing a dramatic pivot from its core footwear business to artificial intelligence infrastructure, sending its stock soaring more than 580% in a single day. The struggling company, which was valued at $21 million after the announcement, revealed plans to rebrand as NewBird AI and focus on acquiring high-performance computing hardware to lease to customers in need of reliable AI capacity.
In an announcement, the company said, “The Company will initially seek to acquire high-performance, low-latency AI compute hardware and provide access under long-term lease arrangements, meeting customer demand that spot markets and hyperscalers are unable to reliably service.”
The shift comes after a period of steep decline for Allbirds, once valued at over $4 billion. The company recently sold its intellectual property and key assets to American Exchange Group for $39 million, which will continue selling products under the Allbirds name. Meanwhile, Allbirds has shuttered its U.S. full-price stores and is seeking up to $50 million in new funding to support its transition into the capital-intensive AI infrastructure market.
