Commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction publisher Harlequin is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a romance powerhouse. The brand has published more than 40,000 happily-ever-afters, and it continues to enchant readers with tales of rugged Western beaus, reunited long-lost lovers, and billionaires finding love.

Harlequin is unveiling a special 75th Anniversary Collection this summer, featuring titles from New York Times bestselling authors like Diana Palmer and Heather Graham alongside emerging authors. Additionally, the brand is introducing a celebratory Harlequin Historical Timeline, highlighting key moments in Harlequin history. “This year calls for celebration, and we can’t think of a better way to do so than by welcoming new entrants to the genre while honoring our longtime, loyal fans,” said Craig Swinwood, Publisher and CEO, Harlequin. “Since the release of Harlequin’s first romance novel, The Manatee, by Nancy Bruff, published in May 1949, we have grown our presence into a score of imprints and romance lines focused on meeting our romance readers where they are today. The genre continues to evolve, and Harlequin is committed to delivering timeless romances that keep pace with the modern world we live in.”

The 75th-anniversary festivities also include launching a new campaign called The People’s Romance. This campaign is a tribute to the authors, books, and fans that have propelled Harlequin’s status as a romance expert. It will feature engaging content across Harlequin’s TikTok and YouTube channels, providing a unique opportunity for fans to connect with their favorite authors and books. The campaign will also extend its reach with coffee shop takeovers in Phoenix, Arizona.

Earlier this year, Harlequin revealed a new look and package refresh to reflect its continued growth and transformation to meet the modern needs of romance fans. Its refresh also includes format diversification and program expansions to appeal to established and new romance fans alike.
