United Airlines listened to its customers and partnered with the PGA Tour to offer members of the airline’s MileagePlus loyalty program special discounts and access to courses within the PGA Tour’s TPC Network−which includes more than 30 world-class golf destinations throughout North America.
United is the official airline of the PGA Tour. Through this partnership, MileagePlus Premier members may receive a 20% discount on starting times and golf club rentals at more than a dozen TPC properties as well as other unique benefits across the TPC Network.
All other MileagePlus members may receive a 10% discount on starting times and golf club rentals at more than a half dozen TPC resorts and other properties, and all members may receive a 10% discount at TOURAcademies within the TPC Network.
United Airlines Public Relations Manager Karen May told Loyalty360 that customer feedback played a role in deciding to launch this benefit to MileagePlus loyalty program members.
“Our marketing team surveyed our most frequent flyers and found many of them enjoy golf,” May said. “We're constantly looking for new and innovative benefits to provide members of our MileagePlus loyalty program. United has partnered with the PGA Tour for several years and, through this relationship, we’re able to bring our members this latest offer.”
MileagePlus members earn award miles by flying United, United Express, Star Alliance airlines or other airline partners, and by purchasing products or services from various partners worldwide. Members may then use those award miles to pay for travel, hotel stays, car rentals, merchandise and other benefits, including PGA Tour packages auctioned on MileagePlus Headliners.
Licensed by the PGA Tour, the TPC Network comprises 32 premier private, resort and daily fee golf properties designed by some of golf’s most elite architects. Eighteen of the clubs are operated by affiliates of PGA Tour Golf Course Properties, Inc. Each TPC has hosted or has been designed to host Tour-sponsored golf tournaments.
TPCs are known for their outstanding conditioning and amenities, as well as a commitment to environmental excellence.
May said she hopes this offer will reinforce the benefits of MileagePlus for current members and encourage customers who are not in MileagePlus to join.
“We always want to make sure we’re marketing offers that meet the diverse needs of our customers and make their overall experience flyer friendly,” May added.
