McAlister’s: New Rewards Program Coming Soon

Bigger, Better, Sweeter

McAlister’s Deli, the fast-casual restaurant chain with more than 400 locations across 28 states, indicated a new McAlister’s Rewards – one that is bigger, better, and sweeter – is coming soon.

The brand says it has listened to its fans and built a program that delivers a better, more user-friendly experience. “Soon you’ll be able to earn points on every purchase, track your progress and choose your rewards,” an email sent by McAlister’s states.

McAlister’s says the new rewards program on the updated app will provide greater flexibility for rewards redemption, as well as exclusive offers from the member’s local restaurant.

Previous app users will need to update to the latest version of the app and join the new McAlister’s Rewards, but those who do will be rewarded. Customers will receive 1,500 bonus points and a free tea for doing so. Also, McAlister’s states that users who sign up with the same email address used on their previous account will receive a special bonus. The app can be downloaded from the App Store on through Google Play.

McAlister’s Rewards will give 10 points for each $1 spent. Accruing 500 points will earn a free beverage or kids meal, while 1,000 points will get the user a choice of a free side, cup of soup, or dessert. Reaching 1,500 points nets a free entrée (sandwich, salad, spud, or Choose 2). Note that catering orders, gift cards, and alcoholic beverages are excluded from earing points towards rewards.

Some of the features of the new app include quick reorder, denoting a favorite location (for easier ordering and local news and offers), and easy customization (for ordering).

Known for its sandwiches, baked potatoes, and sweet tea, McAlister’s opened its first restaurant in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1989. The company now is owned by Focus Brands, which also owns the Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Cinnabon, Jamba, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and Schlotzsky’s brands.

At Loyalty360 we’ve seen similar routes taken by other brands across industries. Sally Beauty, the hair and beauty company with more than 5,000 locations, recently launched a brand campaign with a new mobile app and revamped rewards program. In January, Chick-fil-A gave away an eight-count order of classic Chick-fil-A nuggets to any  person who created or signed into their Chick-fil-A One account via the Chick-fil-A mobile app.

BP introduced BPme Rewards, a new loyalty program with the BPme app, which allows customers to complete fueling transactions through their mobile devices and combines all fuel rewards. Also, Levi’s recently launched a new mobile app, which features curated editorial and brand content aimed at the company’s superfans.
