AMC Theatres Adjust Loyalty Benefits After Customer Feedback

After completing the pilot program for Sightline at AMC, AMC Theatres® has decided to pivot their loyalty strategy and enhance the viewing experience of front row guests. The movie theater chain announced it will soon complete the Sightline at AMC pilot test program at select locations in three U.S. markets. This pilot program offered seat-based pricing, including a premium price for the middle theater seats and a reduced price for front row seats. The results of the program helped measure customer satisfaction with seat-based pricing within movie theatres.

AMC had three big insights into the program’s findings:

  • More than 3 out of 4 AMC Stubs members who previously purchased tickets within the Preferred Sightline sections of the theatre continued to select those seats, even with the slight upcharge applied.

  • More than 1 out of 10 AMC Stubs members selected a seat outside the Preferred Sightline section, where there was no additional charge.

  • AMC saw little or no incremental lift in front-row attendance, even with a price reduction applied to those seats.

To ensure its ticket prices stay competitive, Sightline at AMC will not continue at the current pilot locations once the test ends in the coming weeks. The program will not be extended to theatres, nationwide.

AMC is applying its learnings as it pivots to enhance seat comfort for moviegoers. The theatre chain is looking to invest in spacious front row seating with extensive seat recline. Beginning in late 2023, AMC will begin testing its newest seating concept. Large, comfortable lounge-style seating areas will allow guests to lie all the way back and relax. The angle of the seats will also make it more enjoyable to watch movies from these front row seats closest to the screen.

Delta SkyMiles Wins Top Performer Loyalty Program Award

U.S. News & World Report has lauded the Delta SkyMiles program as a top performer in its annual ranking of airline loyalty programs. Delta has outperformed several international airlines and claimed the No. 2 spot overall in the evaluation of 10 of the most prominent U.S. airlines.
