TikTok Announces Expansion of Effect Creator Rewards Program
TikTok announced it is expanding its Effect Creator Rewards program and increasing opportunities for AR creators to monetize across additional regions. The program was first launched in May 2023 and expanded to more territories in October. The current expansion will further lower entry barriers and allow even more AR creators to get paid for creating TikTok effects through the Effect House AR tool. AR’s popularity surged after Apple released its Apple Vision Pro headset, and TikTok established itself as a key AR player, leveraging emerging trends.
According to TikTok, 33 new regions can now benefit from monetizing their AR effects. Having more creators onboard is projected to catalyze a surge in innovative AR experiences in the TikTok ecosystem and foster increased engagement and user interaction, which could propel the next viral AR craze.
Eligible creators can monetize their effects once they accumulate 100,000 cumulative views within a 90-day timeframe. The ByteDance-owned video hosting service revised the original 200,000 threshold downward to facilitate more accessibility. Individual creators stand a chance of earning up to $14,000 for each eligible effect, with a maximum of $50,000 per month. TikTok acknowledges that some creators are achieving maximum payout limits.

Chick-fil-A Opening Its First Mobile Pickup Restaurant in NYC
Chick-fil-A is launching its first mobile pickup-only restaurant in New York City’s Upper East Side. The digital-focused enterprise will open on March 21, 2024, at 79th and 2nd. The new “Grab-and-Go” Chick-fil-A will be tailored to meet the needs of busy New Yorkers, prioritizing convenience by allowing customers to pick up their orders or have them delivered once placed through Chick-fil-A’s app or online. The service will utilize geofencing to notify the restaurant when customers are on their way to ensure meals are ready for pickup on arrival. Meanwhile, active status boards will alert customers and delivery drivers about their real-time order status.
Senior Principal Design Lead for Chick-fil-A, Nathanial Cates, emphasized, “At Chick-fil-A, we are always looking for ways to innovate and enhance the Guest experience. While digital concepts are becoming more prevalent, it’s important that we evolve in a uniquely Chick-fil-A way — meeting the changing needs of our customers without compromising the signature service and care they’ve grown to know and love.”
The prototype will be smaller than a typical Chick-fil-A, with most of its 3,500 square feet making up the kitchen and stage area to facilitate a more streamlined process so customers receive their food faster. Around 400 square feet will be dedicated to the front area for order pickups. There will be no seating area.
New York was chosen to test the new store model because digital orders average more than half the total sales in some markets, but New York surpasses the average. Cates said Chick-fil-A will evaluate the performance of the new restaurant to determine if similar models have a place in other markets. In keeping with many Chick-fil-A restaurants, the new mobile and pick-up restaurant will be franchise-owned and operated. Jared Caldwell, who currently operates and owns another Chick-fil-A on 3rd Avenue and 86th, is the new owner of the Upper East Side restaurant, which is opening this week.
