Southwest Airlines Enhances Rapid Rewards® Program with New Flexible Payment Options

Southwest Airlines announced enhancements to its Rapid Rewards® program, introducing more payment options for flight and hotel bookings. Rapid Rewards Members can now utilize a new option called Cash + Points, which allows them to purchase flights using as little as 1,000 points and cash when booking directly through Southwest’s website. Members can also redeem their points, or a combination of points and cash, to book hotel and flight accommodations at more than 400,000 properties worldwide through a platform powered by Rocket Travel by Agoda

“Our Purpose is to connect People to the places that matter most to them by offering a seamless travel experience,” said Phil Gouel, Vice President Travel Products at Southwest Airlines. “These enhancements allow Members additional opportunities to redeem their earned points for hotel stays, with more flexibility and more value.”

The new capabilities extend to Southwest’s business customers. Corporate travel managers can combine their Rapid Rewards business points with cash to book their company’s air travel. Southwest aims for more flexible and accessible ways for reward members to earn flights. The company wants every seat to be a reward seat, so there are no blackout dates, and points never expire in the Rapid Rewards program.

JetBlue and Etihad Airways Expand Partnership with New Loyalty Benefits To Enhance Customer Experience

JetBlue and Etihad Airways are expanding their longstanding codeshare partnership to support a more enjoyable experience for its reward members. The expanded collaboration will allow members from both airlines to earn and redeem points across either network. The new benefits build on nearly a decade of partnership and complement each airline’s existing redemption options. Last year, JetBlue’s TrueBlue loyalty program introduced its Perks You Pick menu, from which loyal members could choose how to earn and enjoy their perks and elevate their membership status. Meanwhile, Etihad Guest members can redeem their miles on hotel stays, flights, and even shopping.

“As a successful partner since 2014, we are excited to introduce loyalty benefits as part of our codeshare partnership with Etihad,” said Christopher Buckner, Vice President of Loyalty and Partnerships, JetBlue. “This partnership extension delivers both JetBlue TrueBlue and Etihad Guest members more ways to earn and redeem on travel, making exploring either airline’s network of top global destinations even more rewarding.”

Etihad Guest Managing Director, Mark Potter, added, “JetBlue has been an important partner for Etihad for almost a decade, and we’re thrilled to be extending this partnership to our loyalty programmes, benefitting both of our airlines’ valued members. We look forward to welcoming and rewarding TrueBlue members. This also further bolsters Etihad’s commitment to the U.S. market, following the recent launch of our direct service connecting Abu Dhabi and Boston, as well as introducing our popular A380 onto the New York route, expanding capacity.”

The partnership will also facilitate more connectivity between Boston and New York to Etihad’s extensive global network and access to JetBlue’s 40-plus destinations throughout the Americas.
