Chipotle Announces Partnership with Grubhub To Expand Delivery Footprint
 
Chipotle has announced a partnership with Grubhub to help expand its digital footprint. Customers can now order from Grubhub’s website or their website. Digital orders from the brand can be customized through its Digital Kitchens.
 
"We are working tirelessly to ensure our network of delivery aggregators can reach as many consumers as possible to deliver real food directly to their doorstep," said Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer at Chipotle in the above Chipotle press release. "We're happy to utilize Grubhub's expansive network to reach more Chipotle fans across the country."
 
Domino's Carside Delivery™: It's Carryout, Delivered
 
Domino’s has announced Carside Delivery, a new contactless carryout option. Customers can choose it when placing their prepaid online order and is now available in stores across the country. This carside delivery is available from 4 pm to 9 pm, and additional hours may vary by location, according to the press release.
 
"Domino's is all about providing a delicious, hot meal, the way customers want it – whether via carryout or delivery," said Dennis Maloney, Domino's senior vice president-chief innovation officer, in the above Domino’s press release. "Domino's Carside Delivery gives customers the option to stay in their vehicle while a team member delivers their order to them, making for a convenient, contactless carryout experience. It's carryout, delivered."
 
Amazon Acquiring Zoox To Help Bring Their Vision of Autonomous Ride-Hailing to Reality
 
Amazon has announced its acquisition of Zoox. Zoox, according to the press release, is a California-based company that is working to design autonomous ride-hailing vehicles from the ground up.
 
"Zoox is working to imagine, invent, and design a world-class autonomous ride-hailing experience," said Jeff Wilke, Amazon’s CEO, Worldwide Consumer. "Like Amazon, Zoox is passionate about innovation and about its customers, and we're excited to help the talented Zoox team to bring their vision to reality in the years ahead."
 
Raley’s Makes Latest Bold Move with Opening of First Raley’s O-N-E Market
 
Raley’s has announced the opening of its first O-N-E Market. According to the press release, the difference between the brand’s two types of locations is that the O-N-E Market has an assortment of products that are fresh, organic when possible, minimally processed, and sustainably sourced.

Plastic Waste Surges as Coronavirus Prompts Restaurants to Use More Disposable Packaging
 
According to a CNBC article, the pandemic has caused plastic waste to skyrocket. Cities have postponed the ban on plastic bags due to reusing products having the possibility of spreading the virus and, according to a study in the article, plastic pollution is expected to increase by 40 percent.
 
“The plastic industry seized on the pandemic as an opportunity to try to convince people that single-use plastic is necessary to keep us safe and that reusables are dirty and dangerous,” said John Hocevar, ocean campaign director at Greenpeace in the above CNBC article. “The fact that neither of these things is supported by the best available science was irrelevant.”
