Billeo, Inc., Santa Clara, Calif., launched its ZipThru Pay and ZipThru Buy services today. The services enable the company’s business customers to simplify and speed up online shopping and bill pay payment with technology that completes payment and purchase transactions without needing to go to separate Web sites, said Murali Subbarao, Billeo founder and CEO. 

Billeo’s new services enable businesses to drive purchases, and enable card-based bill payments, directly from a Website, mobile or tablet app, without having to build direct connections to each biller or merchant. Billers and merchants have long sought ways to aggregate bills or products on their sites so customers don’t go to competitors. 

The ZipThru services connect Billeo’s business customers with of billers and merchants that accept debit, credit or prepaid card payments online. The technology automatically completes and saves passwords, payment and shipping information – simplifying the payment and purchase processes to one or two clicks. 

ZipThru Pay enables financial institutions and card issuers to install a Pay Now button into an online bill payment platform, allowing consumers to instantly pay a bill with their credit, debit or prepaid card, rather than using an electronic check, which typically takes three to five business days to deliver. After just one click, consumers have paid a bill and received payment confirmation, without leaving the institution’s Web site or app. 

“It’s all about giving customers more choice and the ability to pay immediately,” Subbarao said. “Forty-seven million U.S. consumers go directly to a biller to pay a bill, because they aren’t satisfied with the payment options their bank or credit union provides. ZipThru Pay gives financial institutions the ability to reengage with these consumers, and create a bill payment service that makes them the consumer’s single point of contact for all bill payments.”

The service also allows financial institutions to drive card-based transaction revenue from the institution’s online services or apps, Subbarao added.

Billeo is already discussing the service with some card processors and financial institutions, which would be the target customers for ZipThruPay, but Subbarao declined to name them.

ZipThru Buy enables any Web site or app that features products from multiple merchants the ability to place a Buy Now button next to products being displayed, allowing consumers to instantly purchase an item without going to the merchant site.

After just two clicks, consumers make an online purchase and receive all necessary confirmation materials, without leaving the originating site or app. On the backend, Billeo’s technology is communicating directly with the merchant to complete the transaction, meaning all payment processing, customer support issues, shipping and return processes are handled directly by merchant.

“Each month, more than 85 million U.S. consumers go online to comparison shop,” Subbarao said. “Until now, those consumers are turned over to merchants when they are ready to buy, because the process of facilitating the buying process from multiple merchants was just too complicated. The beauty of ZipThru Buy is that it we’ve done all the work, creating a huge opportunity for our customers to create a better experience for shoppers and earn additional revenues.”
