Ryder Launches Loyalty Rewards Program for Its Commercial Rental Customers

Ryder LoyaltyRyder System, the commercial fleet management and supply chain solutions company, has launched a customer loyalty program that offers points and rewards to commercial rental customers. The Ryder RedZone loyalty program is a part of Ryder’s continual efforts to develop customer engagement and gain brand loyalty.

The company has always been focused on improving the customer experience, Ryder’s VP & Global Product Manager, Rich Mohr, told Loyalty360.

“This was one more tool I felt was necessary to complete the experience,” Mohr said. “Rewarding loyalty is critically important to developing long-term relationships.”   

Mohr said the loyalty program impacts customers by rewarding them for their years of loyalty to Ryder and trusting them to be a part of their business.

“It enhances the customer experience by giving Ryder a platform to communicate changing technology such as fuel efficient technology and natural gas and also giving incentives during the year for specific equipment,” he explained.

Cary Simon, executive vice president of SNS Logistics, a longtime Ryder customer and a Ryder RedZone member, said the new customer loyalty program is in line with his company’s mission to customer service.

“Ryder RedZone is a value added program for rental customers that delivers a great outlet for members to order products for our employee,” he said in a release.  

As Ryder RedZone members, customers earn 10% of their company’s net rental spend in points. They receive electronic statements to track their points so they don’t have to deal with a membership card. The program is already running in the U.S. and Ryder officials said they plan to launch it in Canada in 2015. Already, 9,000 Ryder customers have enrolled in the new program.

Members of the program are able to redeem points for hotel stays, home and garden supplies, and consumer electrics among other lifestyle and Ryder branded options. They can also review redemption points and have their selections mailed directly to them.

As an extra incentive and to further the customer experience, Ryder gives awards members who take part in monthly opinion polls 50 extra points added to their accounts. Ryder said that the results of the opinion poll help them improve services and customer engagement.

“The RedZone data and our other customer satisfaction data gives us a better understand on where we need to invest in our business to continue to serve our customers at a high level,” Mohr added. “This information is very critical in understanding market changes and where emerging markets in North America are developing.”

Ryder Commercial Rental has more than 500 locations in North America and has an inventory of more than 32,000 recent-model vehicles.

As part of its commitment to providing the best customer experience possible, Ryder launched its new reservations web site in 2014 with features and benefits not found anywhere else in the truck rental market. In addition to the website, it launched the truck rental industry’s first electronic tablet with automated client communication. This tablet allows seamless communication to customers about its rental process.
