Taco Bell Leveraging Voice AI in the Drive-Thru

California-based Mexican fast-food restaurant Taco Bell recently announced its initiative to expand AI usage throughout its storefronts. The rollout of Voice AI technology in Taco Bell drive-thrus is designed to enhance team members’ efficiency while elevating customer order experiences. Taco Bell is a part of Yum! Brands and this drive into Voice AI has been a close collaboration between the two, working through valuable customer and employee input to ensure that this initiative, while creating profitable growth for both brands, also benefits customers and employees.  

“Innovation is ingrained in our DNA at Taco Bell, and we view Voice AI as a means to improve the team member and consumer experiences,” said Dane Mathews, the Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Taco Bell. “Tapping into AI gives us the ability to ease team members’ workloads, freeing them to focus on front-of-house hospitality. It also enables us to unlock new and meaningful ways to engage with our customers.”  

AI technology potentially offers a consistent experience to customers, with reduced wait times and improved order accuracy.
