CARY, N.C. & NEW YORK—Innovative direction for the longtime partnership between SAS, the     leader in business     analytics software and services, and Teradata, the world’s largest     company solely focused on data     warehousing and enterprise     intelligence, now comes from customers – a Product Advisory Council     (PAC) that provides customer input and validation to joint SAS and     Teradata in-database offerings before they go to market.

“The SAS and Teradata PAC is unique in providing a platform through     which joint customers influence the in-database solutions we develop     together,” explained Paul Kent, SAS Vice President, Platform Research     and Development. “Who knows better what customers need from vendors? Our     mission is to deliver integrated in-database analytic solutions that     help our customers meet changing demands and remain competitive. The     invaluable perspective of the PAC enables us to do just that.”

As SAS and Teradata broaden the portfolio of in-database analytic     solutions available in their Advantage     Programs, customer input has been significant in several areas,      including:

  • SAS® 9.3 features, including additions to the SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata and process enhancements to the SAS       Scoring Accelerator for Teradata.
  • Enhanced features in SAS® Enterprise Miner™, such as computing exploratory distribution       statistics and creating sample data.
  • The development of a complete analytical modeling process, from       optional stratified sampling to variable discovery and selection       through predictive modeling and deployment.
  • Architectural adjustments to Teradata platforms for enhanced       functionality with SAS.

PAC members also     network with other customers with similar issues and values – enabling     them to collaborate on innovative ideas and solve business problems.
