This week, PagerDuty, a global leader in digital operations management, announced integration of its real-time operations management platform with Microsoft Azure and Visual Studio Team Services, Azure's integrated suite of DevOps services.
The move allows for Microsoft's enterprise customers to manage incidents in real time, helping minimize business disruption, migrate confidently to the cloud and bridge the gap between development and operations teams. Amending critical issues before they impact the customer experience is a key factor within the integration.
Vera Chen, Technical Marketing Manager at PagerDuty, discussed the integration.
“PagerDuty extends Microsoft Azure Alerting to accelerate incident response and digital transformation,” Chen says. “This helps organizations quickly address Azure infrastructure-related issues to minimize business risks and impact to customer experience. PagerDuty delivers richer context around incidents while improving visibility across services, infrastructure and cross-functional teams. Overall, this helps DevOps practitioners effectively reduce software delivery cycle times and focus more on innovation rather than waste time on administrative mechanics.”
The PagerDuty Microsoft VSTS integration is a critical component for streamlining the full software delivery lifecycle. It combines Microsoft’s comprehensive tools that support code development with PagerDuty’s automated incident response, improving visibility across all services and infrastructure. The integration enables DevOps practitioners and developers to quickly address critical issues that arise throughout the software delivery lifecycle before they can impact the customer experience and overall business.
The idea behind the integration into Microsoft Azure and Visual Studio Team Services was about timely critical issue troubleshooting. Actionable insights, powered by machine learning, are keys in making this possible.
“PagerDuty, with Microsoft Azure and VSTS, support the full DevOps lifecycle from code development to build, testing and deployment, as well as incident response across all critical processes of the delivery pipeline,” Chen says. “PagerDuty extends Microsoft Azure and VSTS to accelerate delivery through actionable, operational health insights, which are powered by machine learning throughout the software development lifecycle. PagerDuty helps DevOps practitioners and developers fix critical issues earlier in the software delivery lifecycle before they impact customers so you can deliver higher-quality applications and services, faster.”
For PagerDuty, the new integration is just one stop along their journey of digital growth they plan to experience in the next few years.
“PagerDuty has been bringing a lot to the technology community by helping reduce system noise, improve visibility, and deliver better context related to issues across services and the entire infrastructure,” she says. “PagerDuty will continue to address the need to accelerate incident response by arming responders with solutions that automate the most critical components of response. I see PagerDuty spending more time building upon its analytics foundation and automation tools, as well as continuing to expand its developer API to deliver more to the technology community to fill in the gaps of capabilities that have been absent from other point solutions around today.”
