Michigan Lottery Releases Updated Mobile App to Increase Customer Engagement

ePrize, a leader in digital engagement for social, mobile and web campaigns, today announced a partnership with Michigan Lottery to aid in increasing the brand's mobile offerings for its users. The app relaunch represents the first use case of ePrize's new Mobile Software Development Kit (SDK), empowering brands to integrate multi-channel promotions and campaigns within one native app, deepening engagement with customers via mobile. Michigan Lottery's integration of the ePrize Mobile SDK demonstrates how brands no longer need to rely on multiple platforms to launch campaigns, but can now do so directly from one native mobile application.

Since 2011, the Michigan Lottery has used an ePrize-powered mobile app to offer local lottery players an engaging mobile experience. The ubiquity of mobile, coupled with a customer service desire to increase players' ease of access to the lottery, prompted Michigan Lotto to update its app with the integration of ePrize's Mobile SDK functionality.

The newly designed app keeps users updated on winning numbers, jackpots, in-app promotions, giveaways and social media activity, all while they browse lottery content. It operates on iOS and Android, with features including:

  • Retail Finder: A new feature tapping into location-based services, presenting players with nearby locations they can visit to play their favorite lottery games.
  • Scanning Functionality: New ticket scanning capabilities and rewards catalog give players more accessibility to the lottery while on the go.
  • Ease of Access: Quick and efficient navigation makes the mobile app more seamless and intuitive for users to navigate.

By the end of 2013, there will be more mobile devices on the earth than people, with the average American spending 58 minutes a day on their smartphone. Through its Mobile SDK offering, ePrize took this mobile dependence into account and created a mobile engagement solution to offers brands a capability to help drive customer interest and secure subsequent engagement via mobile app. By supporting multiple campaigns within one app, the SDK encourages repeat app engagement and reduces app abandonment. Brands are able to learn more about their customer base and better engage consumers with multi-channel executions. ePrize's Mobile SDK reflects an advancement in the mobile engagement space, as brands no longer need to rely on microsites or Facebook apps to implement campaigns, they can now market campaigns directly through their native apps.

"When prioritizing customer engagement on mobile, ePrize was the natural choice for our partner," said Shannon DeHaven, the Interactive Marketing Program Manager at Michigan Lottery. "Our updated app takes mobile loyalty to a new level, offering players an added convenience factor to lottery. We are particularly excited about the ability for players to be notified of all new promotions directly in-app, to encourage repeat app engagement."

"The biggest challenge brands face when marketing apps is getting users to come back after the initial download," explained Sara Kowal, VP of Product Innovation at ePrize. "ePrize's Mobile SDK provides a clear-cut solution to this problem by minimizing app abandonment and leveraging continued engagement with mobile users by automatically incorporating campaigns across multiple channels. We expect strong success and increased ROI with Michigan Lottery's upgraded app, as their loyal users will appreciate the increased engagement."
