MasterCard Continues to Partner with MLB to Improve Customer Experience

As MLB continues to improve on its tradition of unique and family-friendly customer experience, on Thursday it announced an extension of its partnership with MasterCard. As part of the collaboration, MasterCard was named as the presenting sponsor of the 2016 All-Star Game in San Diego, California.

“MLB is one of our longest-tenured partners and during this time we’ve significantly expanded our relationship by taking it far beyond a traditional sponsorship,” said Raja Rajamannar, Chief Marketing Officer, MasterCard. “Baseball is a passion for many and through our partnership we’ve been able to deliver not only access for fans, but have incorporated new payment options, driven fan engagement around Priceless Causes and delivered truly memorable moments.”

The agreement also ensures the integration of MasterPass, MasterCard’s digital payment solution, into all ballparks, as well as the MLB.com Shop.

“We are looking forward to creating exciting and innovative elements with MasterCard over the next several years in connection to the All-Star Game presented by MasterCard,” said Noah Garden, MLB Executive Vice President, Business. “Major League Baseball games and Jewel Events like the All-Star Game provide MasterCard with high-profile opportunities to showcase its evolutionary payment technologies to our fans."

The All-Star Game will include extensive promotion of MasterCard events & promotions, including an expanded presence at point-of sale locations, exclusive giveaways for on-field experiences and events, and exposure during the MLB FanFest. Cardholders are given additional benefits during the event, receiving discounted FanFest tickets, admission presale access, and MLB.com Shop discounts.

The companies have worked together for over 20 years, starting with the famous “Priceless” ad campaign, which originally aired during the 1997 World Series. The brand also has deals with four of MLB’s largest franchises: The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox.

The agreement especially benefits fans looking for the seamless customer experience provided by MasterPass; the digital payment allows for easy payment and peace of mind given by the system’s respected security.
