Subway Launches New Meal of the Day and Baja Bliss Collection to Enhance Customer Engagement
Subway has started the new year by introducing a “Meal of the Day,” promotion to provide customers with an affordable dining experience every day of the week. The promotion highlights Subway’s commitment to delivering quality without compromising value. Guests can choose from a variety of fan-favorite subs, prepared fresh with the Subway ingredients customers love, available for just $6.99 for a six-inch sub or $9.99 for a footlong. Each meal includes a choice of two cookies or chips and a small fountain drink. With a different sub featured each day, customers can enjoy a new taste every week. Subways featured on the “Meal of the Day” include the Cold Cut Combo®, the Meatball Marinara, the All-New Baja Chipotle Chicken, All-Pro Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki®, Tuna, The Philly, and The Ultimate B.M.T.®.
Subway North America President Doug Fry said, “Subway’s new Meal of the Day showcases the variety of better for you ingredients across our entire menu, our signature subs, and our definition of value – where you shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality for an affordable price. Whether dining on-the-go to fuel an active lifestyle or enjoying the moment after a long day, Subway has made ordering a satisfying and tasty meal a whole lot easier.”
In addition to the Meal of the Day, Subway is launching the limited-time Baja Bliss Collection, featuring two new subs highlighting the bold Baja Chipotle sauce, a popular menu item. Customers can choose between Chicken or Freshly Sliced Turkey, paired with Artisan Italian Bread, fresh veggies, SubKrunch™ for added texture, and Baja Chipotle sauce. To further complement the Southwestern-inspired menu item, Subway is also offering Miss Vickie's® Baja Chipotle potato chips.

Lending Tree Survey Highlights Holiday Debt Trends
According to a Lending Tree survey of 2,049 U.S. consumers, many Americans took on significant debt during the recent 2024 holiday season, with 36% of consumers borrowing to cover their holiday expenses. Among these, a surprising 56% didn’t plan to go into debt. Meanwhile, parents with young children were most likely to take on additional debt during the holidays. On average, those who took on debt accumulated $1,181, a slight increase from $1,028 in 2023. High inflation has played a role in this trend, as rising costs have pushed many to either cut back on gift-giving or finance their purchases through credit.
LendingTree Chief Credit Analyst Matt Schulz said, “Inflation is still a big deal in this country, and it’s having a huge impact on people’s finances, including their holiday spending. If you were to only buy the same things you bought last Christmas, you’d likely have to spend more this year thanks to inflation. For many Americans, that means you either have to cut back on gifts or take on more debt. While people make lots of sacrifices to deal with higher prices, many may not want to sacrifice at the holidays, so debts continue to rise.” Schulz is also the author of “Ask Questions, Save Money, Make More: How to Take Control of Your Financial Life.”
While gift-giving remains a holiday staple for 73% of Americans, the aftermath is filled with stress and regret. A staggering 60% of those who took on debt feel stressed about it, with regret being particularly high among parents (69%), millennials, women, and lower-income groups (65%). Many individuals expect to take months to pay off their holiday spending, with 21% predicting it will take at least five months or longer, and 20% only able to make minimum payments. Many holiday shoppers used credit cards (65%), followed by store cards (24%) and buy-now-pay-later plans (21%), contributing to the growing financial strain. Schulz advises consolidating debt to reduce interest costs and make repayment simpler.
