New Lawsuit Aimed At Google

Google is making headlines for the wrong reasons this week. Outside developers having access to personal information seems to be a growing problem, as Facebook just had the same issue. Google is now being hit with a privacy lawsuit for allegedly allowing outside developers to access Gmail messages. Google stated they have a high level vetting program and they also have a permissions screen that tells users what data will be outsourced. However, the complaint states, “Google's permissions screen doesn't sufficiently notify users that their emails might be read by outside app developers.” The allegations include Google violating California state privacy laws, a state consumer protection law, and a state computer fraud law.

Scoot On Over Cars, Uber is Here

Yesterday, Bloomberg announced Uber’s partnership with Lime, the rapidly growing scooter company based out of San Mateo. Uber’s investment will be to the tune of $335 million. Lime is pretty straightforward in its business model, users rent a scooter until they are finished with it then leave it for the next person to rent. It is currently available in 70 different markets and the investment will be used to buy more scooters. Uber believes the move will help users to gain access to Uber drivers, as opposed to self-cannibalization, which some people fear may occur.
