bp Adding 900+ EV Charging Bays

In collaboration with Simon Property Group, bp is adding more than 900 ultra-fast charging bays across 75 sites. As part of the deal, bp pulse, a subsidiary of bp, will install and operate the EV charging Gigahubs that will support almost all makes and models of electric vehicles. The first charging bays are slated to be open in early 2026.

“We’re pleased to complete this deal with Simon and expand our ultra-fast charging network footprint in the U.S. The Simon portfolio aligns with bp pulse’s strategy to deploy ultra-fast charging across the West Coast, East Coast, Sun Belt, and Great Lakes, and we are thrilled to team up with Simon so that EV drivers have a range of retail offerings at their impressive destinations,” said Richard Bartlett, CEO at bp pulse.

bp pulse, with a global network of 33,900+ charging bays, plans to expand to 100,000+ charging bays through 2030. Last year, the bp pulse network saw a 35% growth.

Simon properties are the latest destinations included in the bp pulse EV charging network. A number of bp-owned properties across the United States and a Gigahub network located near airports, major metropolitan cities, and other high-demand locations were previously announced. The new charging stations will be accessible through the bp pulse app, Simon’s EV charging webpage, and all major map platforms.

University of Phoenix Releases White Paper on Millennials and Gen Z Workforce Dynamics

The University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies released the findings of its white paper, “Recruiting and Retaining Millennials and Gen Zs in the Workplace.” Janice Dossey Terrell, Ed.D., a faculty member of the university and fellow-in-residence at the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR), wrote the paper, which delves into the 2024 Career Optimism Index® Study, shedding light on factors influencing recruiting and retaining Millennial and Gen Z workforce members.

The white paper identifies four primary concerns for Millennial and Gen Z employees: learning preferences, job match and career support, financial and job security, and upskilling and professional development. Terrell emphasizes that these generations are self-learners who prefer digital knowledge access and technological learning methods, such as podcasts, interactive, self-paced online courses, and gamified learning programs.

“Millennials and Gen Zs wanted purpose-driven work and would refuse job offers not aligning with their ethics and values,” states Terrell. “Millennial and Gen Z workers seek positive, supportive work environments that allow them a healthy work-life balance as well as opportunities to chart their career path and gain new skills through learning and development in the workplace.”

Key findings from the 2024 Career Optimism Index® study reveal that more than 60% of Millennial and Gen Z workers need help identifying job options matching their skills and interests. This subset of workers also needs support in establishing career goals. The Index also found that 73% of Millennials and 69% of Gen Z workers consider a company’s investment in reskilling and upskilling when evaluating new opportunities.

Advancing Gaming Presence, Honda Partners with Twitch Rivals

Honda announced an exclusive partnership with the popular tournament series Twitch Rivals. Honda hopes to build a connection with the live-stream gaming services audience, particularly its younger users. The year-round Honda Twitch collaboration features the “Chat’s Civic Mods” segment, starting July 18, where Twitch Rivals users can help customize the new 2025 Civic hybrid sedan through interactive chat polls in the stream. The final design will be introduced in San Diego at TwitchCon 2024, which takes place from September 20 to 22. One lucky member of the Twitch community will win the customized vehicle. The excitement happens just as Honda Civic 2025 hybrid sedans arrive at dealerships all around the country.

“Honda joining Twitch Rivals as the first-ever and exclusive automotive partner is an important next step in our growing relationship with the gaming community that kicked off more than 10 years ago,” said Megan Amic, Manager, Media Strategy, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Honda’s new expanded partnership with Twitch Rivals will introduce our fun new fuel-efficient gateway vehicles, like the new 2025 Honda Civic hybrid, to GenZennial gaming fans.”

Honda’s involvement in gaming began more than a decade ago and includes partnerships with esports teams, such as Team Liquid, and gaming franchises like Guitar Hero, Forza, and Hearthstone Team Brawl. The brand’s initiatives, particularly with Twitch, have made the Honda Civic popular among Gen Z, multicultural, and first-time car buyers. Key milestones in Honda’s gaming journey before becoming the exclusive partner of Twitch Rivals include the launch of the first auto-branded gaming channel on Twitch in 2019, the international debut of the 11th-gen Civic on Twitch in 2020, and the introduction of the Honda DreamLab channel in 2022. Last year, Honda launched the Hondaverse within Fortnite, featuring the 2023 CR-V hybrid and HR-V SUV and the 2024 Prologue.
