‘Pawternity’ Leave Could be coming to your Work

Musti Group, the Nordic pet-food company, has set a new standard for employee engagement. The company has now implemented ‘Pawternity’ leave, which will be a three-day pet leave plan. Getting a new pet and can not only be stressful, but the first few days can be sleep-free for new owners. Musti Group’s new leave program is a great strategy for recognizing those animals that are most important in people’s lives while also providing a unique strategy for employee engagement. The US has a long way to go before it gets to a place where new pets allow workers to have time off. Within the US, only 12 percent of private-sector workers currently have access to paid family leave.

Gen Z on Pace to Outnumber Millennials

Next year, Gen Z will comprise 32 percent of the global population of 7.7 billion, nudging ahead of millennials, who will account for a 31.5 percent share. Why does this matter for brands and marketers? Well, this is great news for delivery services, gadget makers and the gig economy, as Gen Z is turning more towards these. Educators, event planners, luxury brands and even golfers on the other hand, will have new challenges to adopt to as Gen Z is turning away from them. Due to the digital landscape Gen Z grew up in, they can quickly detect the relevancy of a product or service in terms of their daily lives. The key difference in both groups involves self-centeredness versus self-awareness. Millennials are more self-centered, thus turning towards brands for solutions. Gen Z appears to be more self-aware, thus looking to create their own solutions.
