General Motors has unveiled a redesigned version of its GM Rewards™ loyalty program alongside the introduction of the GM Rewards™ Mastercard®, issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank. The updated rewards system simplifies how customers earn and redeem points, offering greater flexibility and value across GM brands, including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. With the new card, users can accumulate rewards from everyday purchases and apply them toward new vehicles, services, parts, accessories, and digital features like OnStar and Super Cruise.
General Motors Vice President of Loyalty Programs Ralph Darmo said, “GM has led the U.S. automotive industry in loyalty for a decade, and now we’re rewarding both our new and existing members with easier access to savings opportunities and new ways to engage with us. Additionally, we’re creating exciting member-exclusive experiences that only GM can provide – such as trackside access at racing events and off-the-grid EV excursions…”
GM Rewards points can also be combined with the company’s Family First discounts available to employees, dealers, and suppliers, adding more value to each dollar spent.
The GM Rewards Mastercard, part of the Delaware-based Barclays’ expanding co-branded portfolio, offers up to 10x points on eligible GM purchases and 3x points on everyday spending like groceries, dining, and travel. Cardholders also benefit from a 30,000-point bonus after spending $1,000 on qualifying purchases and a low introductory APR for select transactions of more than $499 within 30 days of opening an account.
According to Barclays CEO Denny Nealon, the card was developed to bring significant value to GM customers across the United States. Nealon said, “We’re proud to partner with GM and Mastercard to deliver a credit card that puts real value in customers’ hands. With industry-leading rewards and flexible redemption options, the GM Rewards Mastercard makes every purchase more rewarding for GM customers across the U.S.”
Current GM cardholders can continue using their existing cards until August 25, 2025, when the new Barclays cards will be activated. Later in the year, GM and Barclays will also launch a GM Business™ Mastercard®.
Mastercard US Co-President John Levitsky said, “Mastercard is thrilled to partner with GM and Barclays in offering exciting benefits tailored to cardmembers’ lifestyles. The GM Rewards Mastercard provides convenience and security through the power of our network, while unlocking valuable benefits that enhance the cardmember experience on and off the road.”
