ExxonMobil has announced that its brand-new Exxon Mobil Rewards app is available for use nationwide at over 11,500 Exxon and Mobil stations. The new app will combine the security and ease of the Speedpass mobile payment app with the benefits of the Exxon Mobil Rewards loyalty program.
 
The Exxon Mobil Reward program replaces the current Exxon Mobil Speedpass to provide consumers with a simple, safe, and more secure way to pay at the pump. The app was designed and developed in partnership with IBM iX and is hosted in IBM public cloud, which delivers advanced security and data protection for each transaction.
 
The new software offers the same benefits as Speedpass, while unlocking more savings and personalized offers. With the Exxon Mobil Rewards, users can pay securely while being able to track and manage loyalty points and save on fuel and convenience store purchases.

Exxon Mobil Rewards users will enjoy daily rewards of three cents per gallon in points. When visiting an Exxon or Mobil station, all users will earn five cents per gallon when paying with the Exxon Mobil Rewards. The Premium Status members will earn 10 cents per gallon in points on purchases of Synergy Supreme premium fuel.   
 
Consumers will also receive bonus fuel savings with special in-app promotions, spanning national offers to local rewards tailored just for them. The new app will integrate advanced technologies like IBM Watson Campaign Automation, which enables ExxonMobil to tailor promotions based on geo-location, giving users easy access to exclusive promotions.
 
Another benefit of the app includes its quick and secure mobile payment method. The app enables users to pay for fuel from the comfort of their vehicle, without swiping a card or interacting with the dispenser’s keypad. Most importantly, payment information is kept secure and is never transmitted to the pump or the station. The Exxon Mobil Rewards app entirely bypasses card readers at the pump, removing the risk of card skimming.
 
One the whole, this app relaunch has a strong value proposition to consumers, as it works to both improve the brand’s customer experience while also rewarding consumers more for their purchases. It will be fascinating to see how consumers respond to the more tech-forward enhancements of the app.
