National bookstore chain Books-A-Million is offering unique value to members of its Millionaire’s Club Card (MCC) loyalty program this week with its annual “MCC Week” promotion. The chain got its start in 1917, and has grown into the second-largest bookstore in the U.S. with 250 stores in 32 states. The brand also has a strong online presence at (www.booksamillion.com), demonstrating its seamless transition into the age of ecommerce.
In what is becoming an increasingly popular loyalty strategy, Books-A-Million charges Millionaire’s Card Club members a small fee for participation in the program. For a yearly cost of $25, customers receive complimentary Wi-Fi at all stores, advance notice of both in-store and online sales, exclusive product discounts of up to 40%, and, familiar to members of Amazon Prime, free shipping on all online purchases.
New members receive a $5 credit immediately upon signing up for the program, as well as coupons valued at $100. For loyalty programs that charge a membership fee, this added value is a crucial part of showing potential members that joining the program is a worthwhile investment.
During MCC Week, the store will offer different deals to members every day. For example, on Tuesday, April 26, members receive a buy-one-get-one free deal on any bargain book, as well as an online giveaway of the full Bill O’Reilly collection. The very next day, members can earn a buy one get one 50% off deal on any DVD, Blu-Ray, or vinyl album, and win the Keri Smith collection.
The promotion began on April 22 and runs through April 28.
