American Airlines Partners with Cadillac for the Ultimate Customer Experience

American Airlines picImagine stepping off your flight to discover a shiny Cadillac waiting on the tarmac to whisk you away to your connecting flight. If you’re an American Airlines passenger, this actually could happen.

The airline recently stepped-up its customer experience approach in a big, if not luxurious way, by partnering with Cadillac to transport first-class passengers arriving at Los Angeles International Airport in style. The luxury car – a Cadillac CTS, SRX or Escalade - shuttles passengers with tight transfer connections right to the next plane.

The luxury transfer program is part of a broader American Airlines and Cadillac partnership that also includes AAdvantage miles earning opportunities and Cadillac exhibits at major airports.

“American Airlines and Cadillac are two iconic American brands, both in the process of redefining the contemporary American luxury experience,” Suzanne Rubin, president of American’s AAdvantage Loyalty program, said in a statement. “This is just the beginning of the opportunities we see with our partnership with Cadillac.”

You don’t have to be a movie star or a high-ranking political figure to take part in this new program, but you do have to be a part of American’s ConciergeKey members, an elite invite-only frequent flier club made famous in the 2010 film, “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney.

All AAdvantage members can, however, earn AAdvantage miles in exchange for test driving a new Cadillac. Members can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles when they call a service desk and register a time to test drive a Cadillac at a nearby dealership.

“Traveling in style is a shared interest of premium customers the world over,” Uwe Ellinghaus, chief marketing officer of Cadillac, said in a release. “Partnering with American Airlines, the world’s largest airline, allows us to engage customers and deliver valuable benefits in meaningful ways. Both brands embody the vitality and universal appeal of the American spirit.”

While the luxury transport service is currently only available in Los Angeles, American Airlines plans to roll out the program to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, New York’s LaGuardia Airport, and John F. Kennedy International Airport by the end of 2014, pending local approvals.
