Rewardle Dons Wearable Tech for Next Loyalty Frontier

Wearable technology devices have yet to saturate societies, and many smart phone users still remain skeptical about the benefits.  Now, some users in Melbourne are getting the point – or, “points,” rather.

Rewardle, an app that rewards customers with points for purchasing at local, independent merchants, is getting together with Samsung Gear to make loyalty transactions possible with just the flash of a wrist. Popular program merchants include cafés, restaurants, work out facilities, and salons.  In the past, Rewardle users would have to use loyalty cards or smartphone check-ins to earn points on transactions. Now, the app is extending a cyborg hand to improved experiences through the inclusion of wearable tech.

“We’ve only scratched the surface with this initial iteration but as a lean start up we’ll continue experimenting and go much deeper as we learn,” Ruwan Weerasooriya, Rewardle founder, said.  “What’s very obvious is that wearable devices aren’t just the latest tech gadgets for geeks, they will serve practical purposes and enable new experiences and engagement with the world around us.”

In addition to providing points benefits, Rewardle also offers data to its merchants to be used for their marketing campaigns and efforts. “We’re on a mission to provide the digital engagement tools and business intelligence used by large retail chains to local High Street merchants by unlocking the power of mobile computing, cloud based software and big data analytics.” Weerasooriya said.

In the future, the company plans to integrate the Rewardle app with Google Glass, meaning shoppers could conceivably order their favorite local cup of coffee with a simple blink of an eye – or upgrade to a large with a subtle raise of an eyebrow (Okay, maybe not). Truly, the body’s the limit for wearable tech and loyalty integration, providing increased customer engagement in ways more intuitive than ever.
