PUMA Enhances Sustainability Efforts, Achieves High CDP Ratings

PUMA has made significant progress in its sustainability initiatives, earning higher ratings from the global environmental non-profit CDP. The sports company maintained its top score of A for its climate change policies, while also improving its scores in water security and forest protection to an A- from the previous year’s B and C ratings. These improvements place PUMA at a “leadership level” across all categories assessed by CDP. The company expressed pride in its achievements, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability, particularly with its Vision 2030 targets.

PUMA Senior Director of Sustainability Veronique Rochet said, “We are very proud of the improvements PUMA has made regarding water security and forests compared to last year. Combined with our continued top score for our climate change policies, CDP has recognized our leadership position in these areas. With our Vision 2030 sustainability targets, which we presented last year, we will aim to improve our sustainability performance even further in the coming years.”

PUMA has made strides to address water security by implementing programs that minimize water usage in manufacturing its products and promoting wastewater testing to safeguard nearby water supplies. From 2019 to 2023, PUMA saved 2.4 million cubic meters of water, equivalent to more than 7 million bathtubs full of water annually. Furthermore, the company is taking proactive steps to prevent deforestation by ensuring that the leather used in its products comes from certified, deforestation-free supply chains. In 2023, PUMA achieved a remarkable 99.4% certification rate for its paper and cardboard materials, including FSC-certified and recycled options. In addition to the improvements in water and forest sustainability, PUMA continues to set ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The company has set a goal to cut its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90%.
