Best Buy Tests Remodeled Stores During Busy Holiday Season
The Minneapolis Star-Tribute says that some of the Best Buy stores that dot the Twin Cities have begun to function a little differently — with more employees working like Santa's elves preparing items for delivery and pickup and fewer square feet dedicated to in-store shopping.

With a record number of online sales due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Richfield-based electronics retailer has redesigned a handful of stores in the metro and recalibrated a chunk of stores across the country to focus more on fulfilling online orders.

"Best Buy is hands down the smartest retailer of 2020. … It is incredibly scientific in its approach," said Chris Walton, a former Target executive who co-runs retail blog and podcast Omni Talk and Minneapolis retail lab and co-working space Third Haus. "It's a series of micro experiments."
 
Disney Embraces Daily Fantasy Sports Betting with ESPN+
GamblingNews.com reports that Disney is changing its anti-gambling stance and embracing sports betting as a viable recreational segment in full. The company announced on Thursday this week that it will seek to create a dedicated hub for fantasy sports and sports betting products with ESPN+, ramping up the number of such content the company provides.

The company’s media branch, ESPN, has recently entered a partnership with Caesars Entertainment, a casino and sportsbook operator in the United States. Moving forward, and as a result of this partnership, ESPN’s sports coverage is now readily available at Caesars’ sports betting software and platforms, and across various media.
 
McDonald’s Giving Away Free Food During the Holiday Season
McDonald’s is feeling the holiday spirit, and they’re offering customers a little something extra to spread some seasonal cheer.

Beginning Dec. 14 through Christmas Eve, the fast-food behemoth will add on a variety of free menu items to every order. For the first ten days, customers will be required to make a minimum $1 purchase on the McDonald’s app in order to receive the daily free holiday-themed treat.
 
Educators Credit Union deposits record $4.27M into Member Loyalty accounts
Christmas arrived early this year for more than 132,000 Member Loyalty reward program participants at Educators Credit Union, as the member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative deposited more than $4.27 million into their accounts.

Participants in Educators Credit Union’s Member Loyalty rewards program build a reward in the program by having an active account each month. Once the member unlocked their account, they build their year-end rewards. In all, members could earn a total of $165 with the Member Loyalty program.
