Dunkin’ Offers On-the-Go Mobile Ordering Through Alexa, Runs Sip, Peel, Win Contest

Dunkin’ Brands has recently announced that its On-the-Go Mobile Ordering will be available for use through Alexa, Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. The integration will allow the company’s loyalty members to place mobile orders on an Alexa-enabled device, with payment options being offered directly through the application.

Guests who have a DD Perks account and an Amazon account can link them together in the Alexa app, with all ordering and payments happening within Dunkin’ Donuts’ mobile platform.
 
When a guest places and submits an order through Amazon Alexa, they will be asked which locations they would like to order from and when they would like their orders to be ready. Guests can also order favorites saved from previous orders via the Dunkin’ Mobile App.
 
“Our integration with Amazon Alexa is our latest innovation to better serve members of our DD Perks program, which remains one of the fastest growing loyalty programs in the quick service restaurant industry, with nearly 8 million members,” said Stephanie Meltzer-Paul, Vice President of Digital and Loyalty Marketing at Dunkin’ Donuts United States. “As a brand, we are always looking for ways to fit seamlessly into our guests’ daily routines and provide new levels of convenience and speed.”
 
With DD Perks, guests earn five points for every dollar they spend on qualifying purchases when they pay using an enrolled Dunkin’ Donuts card, either plastic or via the Dunkin’ Mobile App.
 
Once a member accrues 200 points, they receive a coupon for a free, any-size beverage of their choice, redeemable Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. DD Perks members also receive a coupon for a free, any-size beverage upon enrollment and on their birthday.
 
The ability to order from Dunkin’ Donuts using Alexa-enabled devices is actually the second venture between Dunkin’ and Amazon. On National Coffee Day last year, the two companies introduced the Dunkin’ Donuts Quiz, which enables users with an Alexa-enabled device to take a quiz that asks questions on everything from hot and iced coffee facts and the history of coffee to Dunkin’ knowledge and donut trivia. To play the quiz, guests can turn on the Dunkin’ Donuts feature in the Alexa app and say, “Alexa, play Dunkin’ Donuts Quiz.”
 
This second partnership between Dunkin’ and Amazon comes in the wake of an announcement that Dunkin’ will run its Sip, Peel, Win contest for another year. From August 27th to October 15th, customers who purchase a large or extra-large beverage (excluding hot espresso) will receive a Sip, Peel, Win game pieced stickered to their cups. Customers merely need to peel away the sticker to see if they’ve won any prizes.
 
Possible winnings include free coffee for a year, free menu items, $500,000 in DD cards, roundtrip tickets through JetBlue, sports gear, movie tickets, Keurig brewers, and a host of others. Additionally, guests can collect pieces marked with a suitcase or compass icon to win a vacation package.
