Facebook Customer ExperienceAs Facebook approaches its 12th birthday next week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked about several factors for the company’s success during Wednesday’s fiscal fourth-quarter conference call, including the important role video plays in the overall customer experience offering.

“Our strategy here is to deliver better, more engaging experiences for our community and to give people better tools for sharing different types of content with the different groups of people that they care about,” Zuckerberg said, according to Seeking Alpha. “Video is an important part of the Facebook experience, and continuing to invest hereFacebook Customer Experience is important for allowing people to share and consume some of the most engaging content. We’ve continued to make progress and now 100 million hours of video are watched daily on Facebook. We’ve been testing new experiences like suggested videos, which enables people to discover more videos they might be interested in. We’re also exploring ways to give people a dedicated place on Facebook for when they just want to watch videos.”

In 2015, Zuckerberg noted:

More than 950 million people received a notification that a friend or loved one was safe in a crisis

Millions of people supported the people of Nepal after the earthquake and the people of France after the Paris attacks

More than eight million people used 35,000 groups and pages on Facebook to support refugees

People from all over the world connected around moments from Star Wars, to the U.S. presidential election, from the Indian Super League, to the Cricket World Cup

More than 1.59 billion people now use Facebook each month

1.04 billion use Facebook every day (representing a growth of nearly 200 million people monthly and a 148 million people daily this year)

More than 1.44 billion people use Facebook on mobile devices

“In 2016 and beyond, we’re going to continue doing that by serving our community, working to bring connectivity to billions of people who’re not yet connected, and building new technologies that give people more ways to express themselves,” Zuckerberg added.

Total revenue grew by 52% year-over-year, to more than $5.8 billion; and advertising revenue rise 57%, to more than $5.6 billion.
