Publix Lauded Nationally for Crisis Leadership, Employee Satisfaction
The Business Observer of Florida says Publix, Bloomin’ Brands and BayCare Health System — some of the region’s largest entities, in both annual revenue and payrolls — have something to celebrate amid the pandemic that’s upended their business models.
Lakeland-based Publix and Tampa-based Bloomin’ Brands, parent of Outback Steakhouse, are two of five companies that made Global Finance magazine’s 2020 list Outstanding Crisis Leadership, in the overall corporate excellence category. A third company on the list, St. Louis-based health insurance giant Centene Corp., has a big connection to the region in that acquired Tampa-based WellCare for $17 billion earlier this year. The other two companies on the list are Lamborghini and Ethiopian Airlines Group.
Eminem Releases Limited-Edition ‘Marshall Mathers’-Themed Carhartt Collaboration
Eminem’s Marshall Mathers Foundation is partnering with Carhartt for a limited-edition clothing line to support students, amid the pandemic. The capsule collection, which also references the rapper’s landmark album, The Marshall Mathers LP, supports the Downtown Boxing Gym, a free academic and athletic program on Detroit’s east side that’s working around the clock to prevent students from falling behind.
The collection includes two t-shirts and a hoodie, all of which all offer a nod to “Stan,” Eminem’s chart-topping global hit off The Marshall Mathers LP, which turns 20 this year. The song, which samples vocals from Dido’s “Thank You,” has long been ranked among Eminem’s best work, and is included on a variety of roundups, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, and Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.
