Chick-Fil-A’s Creative Campaign Gives the Gift of Time to Customers This Holiday Season

During the holiday season, there is never a shortage of festive marketing campaigns – and Chick-fil-A is no exception. The brand has decided to focus on family for the holidays with a 2-minute ad spot and free, customizable greeting cards that customers can create online.

This year, Chick-fil-A’s campaign focuses on the importance of spending quality time with family and giving the gift of time. The brand produced an animated video that many can relate with - the trials and tribulations of modern life that restrict family time. However, Chick-Fil-A’s goal is for families to reclaim that time and the brand has created two unique experiences to can help bring families together.

In the video, which is featured in 2,500 restaurants, a little girl is asking each member of her family to spend time with her. She begs her parents and brother, who are all too preoccupied to play. Feeling let down, she “magically” wanders into a snowy landscape where “The Time Shop” stands, giving her the gift of more time. According to a survey conducted by Chick-fil-A and The Bantam Group, 73% of respondents wanted to spend more time with people they care about.

The animated promotion premiered during the live broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and will continue to air in select regions throughout December.

“At Chick-fil-A, we’re always thinking about time, and work hard to give customers time back in how we serve them. This year we’re excited to help people gift and spend time together,” says Ashley Callahan, Chick-fil-A’s Senior Marketing Director.

As part of the holiday campaign and focus on family, the company has created a website where customers can send holiday cards. Using the website, customers can create and customize a free card that Chick-fil-A will then print and send to the addressed recipient.

Furthermore, The Time Shop appearing in the video will come into real life as a pop-up shop in New York this holiday season and celebrate three ways to spend time together: Story Time, Play Time and Snack Time. The shop will also feature a “Giving Time” room where visitors can create the same customizable cards as on the website.

Chick-Fil-A’s holiday campaign is not only something to feel good about this season, but it also highlights an innovative combination of virtual and brick-and-mortar experiences for customers.
