American Express and Toast Partner for Tech-Driven Personalization

In a step toward reshaping the dining experience across the U.S., American Express and Toast have announced a multi-year partnership to integrate their technologies and elevate hospitality for both restaurants and diners. The partnership is designed to enhance guest engagement and streamline service at thousands of establishments nationwide.

Central to this collaboration is the integration of guest data from Resy and Tock into Toast’s Digital Chits platform, which will allow restaurant staff to access personalized guest insights directly on handheld devices and point-of-sale systems, enabling more customized service in real time. The companies also plan to explore exclusive offerings for American Express Card Members to further enrich the dining experience.

To broaden restaurant exposure and improve discoverability, listings from Resy and Tock will be added to the Local by Toast app, joining existing Toast Tables venues. The expanded visibility is expected to drive more traffic and give diners a richer array of options when choosing where to eat. The collaboration will bring restaurants, cafés, bars, and wineries into one accessible ecosystem supported by smart tech solutions.

The new initiatives follow American Express’s continued expansion in the dining sector, including the 2024 acquisitions of Rooam and Tock. With Tock’s 7,000 venues added to Resy’s 20,000-strong network, American Express significantly broadened its Global Dining Network. Resy and Tock have also introduced new features such as Guest Lifetime Value analytics, enhanced notification tools, and expanded mobile accessibility to help venues grow and engage their customer base.
