Staples wants to heighten its customer engagement.
As a result, it just announced the availability of ambient alerts for its home and office automation platform Staples Connect. The alerts provide audio and visual notifications outside of the Staples Connect app and through compatible devices in the home or office.
Brian Coupland, Vice President of Business Development at Staples, told Loyalty360 that through the new ambient alert features, Staples Connect will allow “your home to talk to you through your home entertainment and audio system.”
Coupland added: “In addition to receiving push notifications from your house to your phone, tablet, or computer, alerting you when there’s an open window upstairs or when your kids get home from school, now your smart home can also give you audible and visual notifications. For example, when your basement door opens, your sound system can trigger and play a noise that will alert you. If there is a leak in the basement, your Phillips Hue lighting can glow red. These new updates, made possible through Zonoff’s software platform, help make your connected home not only smart, but unobtrusively intuitive.”
Later this year, Staples will be offering new lighting products from LG Electronics that work with the Staples Connect app, including a wireless connected LED light bulb. By integrating with Staples Connect, LG will join the widest and deepest ecosystem in the industry, including more than 35 existing hardware partners and close to 150 devices for the home and office.
Staples continues to improve the Staples Connect customer experience. Coupland said Staples has featured LG Electronics products for many years.
“While it’s very early, we’re excited to begin the process of integrating LG into the Staples Connect ecosystem,” Coupland explained. “To date, we’ve seen lighting as one of the most popular categories among Staples Connect customers, so adding lighting from a premium brand like LG is a win-win for our users. This partnership ensures Staples Connect customers continue to have access to the widest range of premium brands on the market.” to-use app works on any smartphone, tablet or PC, and links into the hub — the brains behind your
