LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Leveraging Acxiom® Corporation’s (Nasdaq: ACXM) automated email conversation solution,  Rodale Inc. received the National Center for Data Management’s (NCDM)  Database Excellence Silver Award in the Technological Applications category. The award was presented at the NCDM’s Conference for Engaging Customers Using Data and Technology in Miami, Fla.

Relying on email to promote its more than 100 products to new and current customers, Rodale, a global media company with more than 25 million active customers in its database, turned to Acxiom to help bring its Marketing Decision Platform (MDP) to life. The MDP is an email conversation solution that allows the company to automate millions of decisions each night and execute email campaigns daily instead of requiring two to three weeks of lead time. This unprecedented level of segmentation enabled Rodale to tailor its offers to customers based on their preferences for both product choices and frequency, dramatically increasing the success of their customer marketing campaigns.

“We are honored to share this recognition with our partners at Acxiom,” said Todd Leiser, Rodale senior vice president for Business Intelligence.  “The solution we’ve developed with Acxiom has enabled us to uncover new patterns in customer response and undertake new approaches to drive profitability, and we are thrilled the industry has recognized our successful collaboration.”

Acxiom’s automated email conversation solution takes a 360-degree view of a customer and dynamically determines relevant email messages on a per-customer basis. The technology creates a central nervous system that remembers, learns from and reacts to each customer interaction, providing a level of personalized and coordinated engagement that delivers a better brand experience and compels each consumer to action. The result is a level of campaign segmentation never before possible for email communications.

“Delivering innovation, client value and real solutions for engaging with today’s connected consumers is at the core of what we do,” said Greg Hogue,  Acxiom vice president and industry executive for Media, Communications,  Travel and Technology Markets. “After implementing the Acxiom solution,  Rodale immediately reduced the number of sent emails and significantly increased delivery, open rates, click rates and orders. We couldn’t be more pleased to play a part in Rodale’s award-winning solution.”

The NCDM Database Excellence Awards, organized and presented by DIRECT Magazine and the Direct Marketing Association, honors organizations that have demonstrated ingenuity and creativity in leveraging their marketing databases.
