MCLEAN, Va.—Hilton HHonors, the loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide’s 10 hotel     brands, has partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and     Red Crescent Societies, the world’s largest humanitarian organization,      to provide relief efforts for the victims of the March 11, 2011     earthquake and tsunami that devastated the eastern coastline of Japan.      As part of a matching gift program, approximately 6,500 Hilton HHonors     members donated their points. After the dollar-for-dollar match by     Hilton HHonors, nearly $500,000 was contributed to the Red Cross efforts     in Japan.

The matching program is just one part of the support Hilton Worldwide is     giving to relief efforts in Japan. An initial donation of $75,000 was     made immediately following the event, and Hilton Worldwide initiated a     matching gift program available to both HHonors members and Hilton     Worldwide employees. The goal is to raise more than $750,000.

“The devastation in Japan is unthinkable, and the country has suffered     an immeasurable loss,” said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, customer     marketing, Hilton Worldwide. “Our thoughts are with those who     experienced this tragedy, and we thank our members for their generosity     towards this effort.”

Funds donated to the IFRC will support the on-going provision of     immediate relief, including emergency shelter, healthcare, water,      sanitation and tracing and restoring family links, and also towards     eventual recovery support to the affected population.

“We are very grateful for initiatives such as those by Hilton HHonors to     support our operations in Japan,” notes IFRC Under-Secretary General for     Disaster Response and Early Recovery, Yasemin Aysan. “This international     aid is vital for the millions of people who have been affected – both     short-term for their immediate needs and long-term to help them rebuild     their lives.”

To join Hilton HHonors and its members by donating points to support the     victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami, please visit www.hiltonhhonors.com or send an email to [email protected] with name, address, Hilton HHonors account number and number of points     being donated.
