Hyundai Once Again Tops J.D. Power Rankings for EV Mobile Apps

Hyundai’s MyHyundai with Bluelink mobile application has once again earned top honors in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. OEM EV App Report, claiming the highest score in the mass-market electric vehicle segment. The report, now in its third year, gathered feedback from more than 1,300 EV owners between January and March 2025. With a score of 820 out of 1,000, well above the segment average, the app’s performance illustrates Hyundai’s dedication to providing EV owners with a smooth, intelligent, and highly functional digital experience. This marks the second consecutive year Hyundai has led the rankings, demonstrating consistency in digital innovation and user satisfaction.

Hyundai Motor North American VP of Digital Business Planning and Connected Operations, Manish Mehrotra, said, “We’re proud to once again be recognized by J.D. Power as the leading mass-market EV app provider. This achievement highlights how MyHyundai with Bluelink continues to redefine the EV experience, offering seamless and intelligent features that put control, convenience, and charge management right at our customers’ fingertips—wherever they are.”

The app’s high performance was reflected in three key evaluation areas: Customer Journey, Functional Evaluation, and EV-Specific Controls. In 2025, Hyundai enhanced MyHyundai with Bluelink with new capabilities like in-app charging management, expanded Plug and Charge access across major networks, including Tesla Superchargers, ChargePoint, and EVgo.

Freddy’s Enhances the Customer Experience With Automated Solutions

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has crossed the $1 billion sales milestone, thanks to a 7% year-over-year growth in 2024, more than triple the industry average. This surge coincided with a 6% increase in unit count, bringing the domestic total to around 560 locations, alongside an international push into Canada. With expansion in full swing, Freddy’s is also working to tackle operational bottlenecks inherent in its made-to-order model, which generates nearly $2 million in average unit volumes per store. Central to Freddy’s strategy is its new training and innovation center in Wichita, Kansas. This facility has accelerated the company’s ability to pilot and refine technologies to boost efficiency without compromising the guest experience. One example is the RoboFry X4, an automated fryer capable of producing fries in under 30 seconds. By testing innovations in a controlled yet realistic environment, Freddy’s can minimize disruptions in actual restaurants while developing faster and more efficient service models. These upgrades complement existing tech like clamshell grills, which significantly cut burger cook times and reduce labor strain.

Freddy’s VP of Franchise Training and Innovation, Erick von Merveldt, said, “Two years ago, we couldn’t have done this because we didn’t have the test kitchen. We could not put that into a guest-facing restaurant and go through the highs and lows of testing something, but now we can. There’s nothing like training with real guests in the building, but we can emulate that in the innovation center, and we can get them really good and really fast and let them fail without sacrificing the guest experience.”

Freddy’s is testing automated beverage dispensers and a new image-based kitchen display system to reduce training time and human error. The combined effect is a leaner, more consistent kitchen operation that supports both customer satisfaction and employee well-being. Rather than eliminating labor, Freddy’s sees automation as a way to redistribute it, keeping employees guest-focused and less stressed.

Weigel’s Enhances Loyalty Strategy with PDI’s Experience Designer Tool

Weigel’s, a convenience store chain based in Powell, Tennessee, is modernizing its customer engagement strategy using PDI’s new Experience Designer, a self-service platform that enables highly targeted, data-driven loyalty campaigns. According to Jessica Starnes, Weigel’s Director of Loyalty, the tool helps the brand drive “highly targeted campaigns that drive specific purchasing behaviors.” Previously, Weigel’s could only send blanket messages to all customers, but with the integration of this new system, it now personalizes communications based on real-time insights pulled from its price book and product catalog.

Starnes said, “One key improvement is access to clear and actionable reporting. We’re now able to track whether our communications are leading to actual purchases, giving us more insight into campaign performance.”

The Experience Designer, developed by fuel and convenience tech provider PDI and powered by Braze, offers capabilities such as product recommendations, conversion tracking, and re-engagement tactics. The innovation allows Weigel’s to experiment with various marketing strategies, including targeted beverage promotions, tobacco-related offers, and pizza ads during peak mealtimes. In addition, time-sensitive promotions like hot beverage happy hours are now possible. Although the platform is designed for self-service, Weigel’s still collaborates with PDI consultants for strategic guidance when needed. Starnes highlighted that simply having a loyalty program isn’t enough in today’s retail environment. Success lies in using customer data to craft meaningful, personalized experiences. PDI’s tool, she alluded, empowers Weigel’s to remain agile, meet its business goals, and create campaigns that truly resonate with individual customers.
