There are no special codes or complex referrals. Consumers using their first ION offer become that merchant’s ION customer for life. No matter where that ION customer spends using the app, the merchant gets paid.
With no upfront cost or need for special, dedicated equipment, ION Loyalty can be setup on merchants’ smartphones or tablets within minutes. Businesses promote their regularly priced goods and services by posting ION offers, available for viewing and purchase by ION consumers within three miles. Customers are then rewarded with IONs for every offer purchased. 1,000 IONs equals $1.00.
“We view ION Loyalty as a return to common business sense,” said Herman. “The days of giving up profit, or even taking a loss, to get and keep customers are over.” Merchants pay a small success fee only when customers use ION offers and spend money.
An industry first, ION Loyalty uses next-gen Dwolla digital payments so merchants avoid costly credit card fees and receive cash instantly when ION customers pay with their phones. Dwolla payments are free for transactions under $10 and a flat, 25¢ for all others. ION merchants also use Dwolla to pay success fees and receive cash when their customers use ION offers at other businesses.
