WestJet and TELUS announced a multi-year partnership to enhance the inflight experience and internet connectivity for Canadian travelers. By the end of the year, passengers who are members of WestJet’s reward program will enjoy complimentary and fast internet powered by Starlink on WestJet aircraft.

WestJet will be the largest North American airline and the first commercial Boeing 737 operator to implement Starlink’s advanced technology. Starlink’s robust platform was chosen for its ability to provide extensive bandwidth and low-latency internet. Passengers will be able to live-stream videos and play online games during flights.

“Through our strategic partnership with TELUS, we are setting a new standard in the Canadian airline industry by offering Starlink’s revolutionary inflight connectivity, and thanks to TELUS, we are able to bring this inflight experience to WestJet Rewards guests for free,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer.

“The future of inflight connectivity and entertainment is here, and we’re excited to enter this long-term partnership with WestJet to enhance the flying experience for guests and bring more value to WestJet Rewards members and TELUS customers, whether they are on the ground or in the air,” said Zainul Mawji, Executive Vice-president and President, TELUS Consumer Solutions.

Over the next few months, WestJet and TELUS plan to introduce additional benefits and exclusive perks for WestJet’s loyalty program members and TELUS customers. Anyone wanting to become a WestJet Rewards member can create an account online before their flight to enjoy the new Starlink services.
