WalkMe, which has been referred to as the GPS for the Internet, has announced a new version of its contextual U.K. and engagement platform that consists of enhancements, new features, and an overall better experience for its users.

The new version is available on any PC or mobile browser or as a free software update for current WalkMe customers, and is considered to be the most significant update to the product since its original launch two years ago. The platform will give companies the ability to better guide and engage their employees, customers, prospects and partners through a website or web-based software. It incorporates a new, redesigned user interface that has distinct, functional layers and will help users easily navigate the web to complete specific tasks.

Some of the capabilities in the new version include segmentation, onboarding, launchers, content, auto-play, live chat integration and a search widget.

Using the newly updated WalkMe, managers can specify who they wish to engage and in what language by segmenting the display based on things such as location or role.

The Onboarding feature will enable users to create lists of tasks for end users to complete as part of the training process on any software, and new users will have the opportunity to receive the necessary training on their own schedule.

Launchers, which are icons that can be found in strategic areas on a site that either directs users to the WalkMe widget or automatically starts a Walk-Thru, will create a strong call to action on difficult pages or complicated tasks and give users a way to obtain the necessary guidance they need.

The Content feature integrates existing support resources with the WalkMe widget and gives managers the power to post videos and articles.

The auto-play feature will allow managers to engage target segments by automatically playing WalkThrus based on a given criteria, give first-time users of software or a website a brief tour, or alert customers such as if a bill is close to being due.

Live Chat applications will mean that common questions can be dealt with automatically, freeing up time of chat representatives to offer assistance to customers on other issues.

Lastly, the WalkMe Search Widget will let users have access to all relevant documentation they need to complete tasks as the widget has connections to Google (News  - Alert), Bing, Zendesk and Desk.com.
