UPS and Happy Returns have significantly expanded their Return Bar® network, reaching 10,000 drop-off locations across the United States. This milestone includes more than 1,700 new sites, largely driven by partnerships with Annex Brands and PackageHub Business Centers.

Building on existing collaborations with retailers like The UPS Store®, Staples, and Ulta Beauty, the network has become the largest consolidated return system in the U.S., now more than three times the size of its closest competitor. The expansion aims to simplify the growing challenges of e-commerce returns for both retailers and consumers.

UPS Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer Matt Guffey said, “We are putting our customers – and their consumers – at the center of our reverse logistics business. We are simplifying the end-to-end e-commerce journey, and when it comes to returns or exchanges, UPS and Happy Returns have a network that is unmatched.”

Happy Returns Co-Founder and CEO David Sobie added, “Our goal is to make returns seamless. Our Return Bar® network is now more than three times the size of the next closest option, significantly expanding access to box-free, label-free returns with immediate refunds. This growth allows us to deliver unmatched convenience to online shoppers across the country.”

The increased footprint makes returns more accessible than ever, with 79% of Americans now living within five miles of a Return Bar location and more than a quarter within one mile of a drop-off location.

Designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday routines, these drop-off points allow shoppers to return items while running errands, eliminating the need for packaging or printed labels. Customers can simply bring items to a location, where store associates scan them and process refunds on the spot, making the returns experience faster and more convenient.

Behind the scenes, the network combines speed, security, and advanced technology to streamline reverse logistics. Happy Returns’ AI-powered Return Vision™ system helps detect potential fraud through behavioral risk scoring, while UPS leverages its logistics infrastructure—including RFID technology—to move returned items back to retailers efficiently.

As a result, returns can be processed in as little as 3.6 days, with an average transit time of about seven days. Together, these capabilities position the expanded Return Bar network as a comprehensive solution for managing returns at scale.
