Qatar Airways recently redefined the in-flight experience by pioneering an e-sports competition called “Gaming in the Sky. The airline hosted the event aboard a commercial flight on May 11, 2025, from Doha to London, showcasing cutting-edge Starlink internet technology. The unprecedented initiative, which merged aviation with the fast-growing world of digital entertainment, included popular entertainment and gaming celebrities such as Tfue, Lsa Zimouche, Castro1021, Dantic, AJ3, Danny Aarons, MattHDGamer, Slater, and more, with Oussifooty hosting the event.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “At Qatar Airways, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the sky to deliver an in-flight experience that captures the imagination and makes you feel right at home. This competition represents a bold step into the future of passenger engagement and comfort when flying with Qatar Airways.”

The tournament took place at 35,000 feet, transforming the cabin and the skies into a virtual arena, engaging both players and audiences worldwide. Fans followed the action via Qatar Airways’ social media platforms, where highlights, updates, and behind-the-scenes moments were shared throughout the flight. The initiative illustrated the growing intersection between technology, air travel, and digital entertainment.

The event occurs just as Qatar Airways unveiled its recent technological advancements, including the near-completion of its Boeing 777 fleet upgrade and the introduction of Starlink on its Airbus A350 aircraft. As the only airline in the MENA region and the first globally to integrate Starlink into a widebody fleet, Qatar Airways continues to lead the way in aviation innovation, offering passengers a new era of connectivity and entertainment above the cloud.
