Maria Brous, Director of Media & Community Relations at Publix Super Markets, told Loyalty360 that the customer service blog launched on Aug. 3.
“Having a blog provides us a fresh and inspiring way to connect socially with customers, taking them beyond the aisles and showing them we’re more than just a grocery store,” Brous explained. “Blog posts will range in topic from recipes, community initiatives and sustainability ideas, to holiday entertaining, health and wellness, and more. Visitors to the blog can comment on posts or share them to social media sites. As a retailer passionately committed to serving our customers, our social media presence has always been about engaging with our customers where they are and extending our in-store service online. Having a blog provides us a fresh and inspiring way to connect socially with customers, taking them beyond the aisles and showing them we’re more than just a grocery store. The blog is meant to be interactive as visitors to the blog can comment on posts or share them on social media sites. We truly are doing a soft launch of the blog and growing organically. We will be posting on Facebook and Twitter later this month and beyond.”
The company launched its social media presence in July 2011 debuting on Facebook and currently has 2.6 million Likes. Twitter followed in February 2013 with @Publix and @PublixHelps to offer customers brand content and customer service. In the Fall of 2015, Instagram and Pinterest were added to the company’s social media lineup providing platforms for Publix customers to discover the company’s expertise and services, while allowing for engagement in fun and unique ways. Instagram has more than 52,000 Followers and Pinterest nearly 22,000.
What’s more, Publix has a Careers Facebook Blog that launched in August 2012 when the company debuted its Careers Facebook page.
“The original purpose of our Careers blog was to deliver hints, tips, and career advice,” Brous added. “It has evolved into one offering those items and also breaking news, awards announcements, job callouts, and job fair news.”
