In 2024, Newk’s Eatery had several notable achievements, from expanding its franchise network to implementing operational and menu upgrades. The company expanded its footprint by reopening its Knoxville, Tennessee, location following a complete remodel. CEO Frank Paci said, “The store had previously closed due to complications in a franchisee buyout, but a deal with the landlord allowed it to reopen under the original ownership.”
In addition, the company entered into a new franchise agreement that includes three locations across South Carolina and Georgia. Meanwhile, Newk’s adapted to evolving consumer preferences by rolling out self-service kiosks across select locations. Paci said, “Labor costs continue to increase, and kiosks have the opportunity to improve efficiency and also enhance the customer experience.” The addition of kiosks increased sales by up to 12% in some locations.
Newk’s also debuted four new wraps on its menu, including Chicken Caesar, Chicken Salad, Club, and the “Q” wrap featuring the brand’s signature “Q” sauce.
Delivery and catering were key drivers of Newk’s success in 2024, comprising 13% and 11% of Newk’s business, respectively. The company partnered with third-party platforms Uber Eats and DoorDash, expanding the brand’s reach and driving growth. Paci said, “Third-party platforms give us an efficient way to get the Newk’s brand in front of guests who don’t already know us.”
Finally, Newk’s Cares, the company’s ovarian cancer research initiative, raised more than $250,000 in 2024.
Looking ahead, Newk’s plans to continue expanding in 2025, with four new locations slated to open.
