The clothing retailer Men's Wearhouse announced this week a $6.5 million contribution to organizations that support U.S. veterans and their families. The funds were raised over the past year through the Threads of Valor campaign, where customers were asked to donate $1, $3, or $5 at checkout. The retailer collected $5.5 million in customer donations and $1 million from its parent company, Tailored Brands. The campaign attracted 1.3 million unique donors, with nearly half donating on multiple occasions.
The funds will be distributed to four nonprofit organizations. Hire Heroes USA helps active-duty military and veterans succeed in the civilian workforce. K9s For Warriors matches veterans with trained service dogs, and the Fisher House Foundation provides lodging and respite for families of patients at veteran and military hospitals. Another recipient, Semper Fi & America's Fund, supports the care of wounded and ill service members and veterans.
"Our customers have come to know and value our passion for serving those who have served, and this impact simply would not be possible without their generous contributions," said John Tighe, President of Tailored Brands.
Threads of Valor will continue into 2024, with disbursements scheduled for next November in honor of Veterans Day.
