Not only will the transition help with a more timely service, but the move is expected to “reduce transportation costs, improve inventory alignment and further integrate its expanding online business.” To help implement the changes, 170 distribution facilities and 40 flatbed distribution centers will be added to the Home Depot fleet. By the time the changes are completed, Home Depot believes 90 percent of its base will be able to receive same-day or next-day deliveries.
