Kohl's Customer EngagementDoes “greatness” await Kohl’s? That is the fervent hope of Kohl’s CEO Kevin Mansell as the company’s “Greatness” agenda takes firm hold of its customer engagement goals.

During the company’s Feb. 26 fourth-quarter earnings conference call, Mansell noted that Kohl’s recorded a 3.7% in comparable sales−the highest quarterly comp since the fourth quarter of 2010.

Mansell attributed this increase to transactions per store and average transaction value.

Fourth-quarter net sales grew 3.9%, to $6.34 billion.

“We are pleased with our fourth-quarter sales as we saw our base business improve and our new strategic framework, the Greatness Agenda, take hold,” Mansell said. “An instrumental component of our results was the exceptional service we provide every day. I’d like to personally thank every one of our 140,000 associates across the company for their commitment to our customers and our path forward.”

Mansell pointed to the company’s new multi-year vision, known as the Greatness Agenda, which launched in early 2014.

“Over the last year, our associates have fully embraced this new vision and it has become part of the Kohl’s culture,” Mansell said, according to Seeking Alpha. “In October, we provided additional details regarding the greatness agenda and introduced our senior leadership team in our first investor conference in seven years. We talked about measuring our progress in terms of sales, associate engagement, and customer engagement. You have just heard our progress on Kohls Customer Engagementsales. In order to continue to increase our associate engagement, we just assembled nearly 3,000 of our leaders from across the country for a multi-day conference where we worked together to strengthen our leadership skills and explored ways to bring the greatness agenda to life and to deliver on our three-year plan. That conference was a significant investment in the development of our leaders, but one that we believe will pay off as we deliver on that three-year plan.”
