Workwear brand Carhartt extended its Fall 2024 “For the Love of Labor” grant to the All Within My Hands Foundation, an organization created by the iconic metal group Metallica. The non-profit, philanthropic foundation was formed to foster workforce education through supporting trade workers as they connect to programs in their communities. The grant from Carhartt will be directed toward the organization’s Metallica Scholars initiative. Sixty community colleges across 50 states will benefit from the grant.
“The Metallica Scholars Initiative was born from our collective passion to dismantle the stigma associated with the skilled trades, and we are so proud of how this program is changing lives across the nation,” said Metallica’s drummer, Lars Ulrich. “The importance of skilled trades education cannot be overstated, and we are immensely grateful for organizations like Carhartt that are making a meaningful difference by breaking down barriers and investing in the future of skilled labor.”
This is the sixth year of Metallica Scholars, and nearly 6,000 students’ lives have been enriched by the program. To date, $10.5M+ has been provided in support of the initiative. Carhartt and All Within My Hands have partnered in the past, including Labor Day 2021, in which a nationwide campaign, “Hard Rock is Hard Work,” was developed to encourage a new generation to consider working in the trades.
