Wyndham Worldwide, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, along with the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, wants to directly engage consumers through the Wyndham Championship Trivia Contest. The trivia contest began April 15 and runs for 18 weeks leading up to the Wyndham Championship, an annual PGA TOUR event set for Aug. 12-18, 2013, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC.
Topping the list of prizes the Wyndham Championship Trivia Contest is offering is a chance to win 1 million Wyndham Rewards points. Consumers can log on to the Wyndham Championship Facebook page, where they can enter the sweepstakes and answer trivia questions related to the Wyndham Championship, golf, as well as facts about Wyndham Worldwide and its family of brands.
Each week, one winner will be selected to receive 25,000 Wyndham Rewards points and have their photo replace the pin flag on the course map cover on the Wyndham Championship Facebook page. During the Wyndham Championship, one of the 18 weekly winners will be randomly selected to receive the grand prize of 1 million Wyndham Rewards Points.
Alyson Johnson, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications for Wyndham Worldwide, told Loyalty 360 that each year when planning for the Wyndham Championship, company officials seek new and innovative ways to increase visibility of the tournament, Wyndham Worldwide brands, and Wyndham Rewards. Johnson views this year’s Trivia Contest as a way for golf enthusiasts to get excited about the Wyndham Championship. Johnson said the trivia contest came about because social media lends itself well to interactive and direct communication.
“Golf fans are naturally passionate about all things golf, and when combined with the trivia contest, the Wyndham Championship has life beyond the tournament in August,” Johnson said. “Additionally, it is a way for us to give back to the fans through the loyalty program.”
Johnson hopes the Wyndham Championship Trivia Contest increases direct consumer engagement and enhances Wyndham Worldwide’s online presence, while driving interest and ultimately sales to Wyndham Worldwide and its family of brands.
