GameStop is always looking to provide benefits and engagement opportunities to its loyalty club members.
GameStop has partnered with Alliance Data to give loyalty club members more buying and playing power through the launch of the new GameStop PowerUp Rewards™ Credit Card.
Current PowerUp Rewards members will receive accelerated benefits from the new private label credit card program, which aims to drive brand affinity and incremental sales for GameStop.
“GameStop provides Power to the players,” GameStop CMO Frank Hamlin told Loyalty360. “Our trade program provides a unique form of currency to our customers, giving them the power to bring in their games for store credit or cash. For customers who want to extend their purchasing power beyond the value of their games, or want to buy now and pay over time, we are pleased to offer the PowerUp Rewards Credit Card.”
Hamlin said customer feedback is always a factor in the decisions GameStop makes.
“Our customers want to complete their gaming experience now,” Hamlin said. “And the credit card allows them to do that while paying over time. A loyalty program has the potential to differentiate the customer experience and drive preference. It will provide additional value to the member and the organization.”
According to the long-term agreement, Alliance Data’s Retail Services business, which manages more than 135 private label and co-brand credit programs, will deliver a customized loyalty-driven private label credit program designed to further enrich GameStop’s relationship with its more than 28 million members of the successful PowerUp Rewards loyalty program.
The new GameStop PowerUp Rewards Credit Card will provide cardholders with convenience and benefits exclusive to account holders, including being able to make purchases with the card in-store and online, promotional financing for larger purchases, online and mobile platform card management and payment services, as well as no annual fee and exclusive offers for savings throughout the year. Upon opening an account, PowerUp Rewards Pro members will receive a one-time award of 15,000 bonus points, and PowerUp Rewards Basic members will receive a one-time award of 5,000 bonus points.
