Air Canada launched its rebranded Top Tier frequent flier program now titled, “Altitude,” on March 1.
Altitude offers members a wide range of travel privileges, rewards, and additional status levels. Improved benefits include enhanced priority travel services such as a complimentary checked baggage allowance, higher upgrade priority for higher status members, exclusive partner offers and new incentives such as tier status gifts, as well as the creation of a new dedicated website altitude.aircanada.com.
Air Canada Altitude includes two additional status levels for a total of five. Members reach Air Canada Altitude status based on the number of Altitude Qualifying Miles or Altitude Qualifying Segments earned on eligible flights operated by Air Canada and its Star Alliance partners.
Air Canada spokesperson Peter Fitzpatrick told Loyalty 360 that Altitude was created to “better recognize and reward its most loyal frequent fliers.”
Key changes with Altitude include the introduction of two new status levels of recognition for a total of five: Altitude Prestige 25K; Altitude Elite 35K; Altitude Elite 50K; Altitude Elite 75K; and Altitude Super Elite 100K.
Air Canada Altitude provides its most loyal customers with a range of priority travel services, lounge access and upgrades to Executive Class. It complements Aeroplan, Canada's premier coalition loyalty program, which offers numerous ways to earn and redeem Aeroplan Miles with over 150 travel and retail partners.
Air Canada Altitude members will continue to benefit from Air Canada's partnership with the Aeroplan Program, and will still be Aeroplan members. The Altitude Qualifying Miles earned on eligible flights with Air Canada and the Star Alliance airlines, which count towards Air Canada Altitude status, are also redeemable Aeroplan Miles.
With Select Privileges, Altitude members can choose the combination of perks that best suits their travel needs by selecting the privileges they value most including: Bonus Aeroplan Miles, eUpgrade Credits, access to Air Canada’s network of Maple Leaf Lounges, and Altitude status for a friend.
“They will enjoy a higher upgrade priority and additional priority travel services, along with Star Alliance Gold recognition, threshold gifts and access to a range of exclusive partner offers,” Fitzpatrick said.
Fitzpatrick said with Altitude, Air Canada wanted to “reward our most loyal customers and encourage people to choose Air Canada when they fly by recognizing its loyalty.”
